The story of OshKosh B'Gosh began in America more than one hundred years ago. OshKosh B'Gosh (OshKosh Inc.) was founded in 1895 in OshKosh, Wisconsin USA.

In 1910, the company began making pint-sized overalls so that proud parents could dress their children 'just like children'. And so OshKosh B'Gosh childrenswear had begun with the slogan "Work Clothes for Dad, Play clothes for Sonny".

Childrenswear proved so successful that during the late 1960's and 1970's the focus of the company changed from adult work wear to childrenswear. A full range of childrenswear was first introduced in the 1960's at the request of customers, and now accounts for over 90% of the company's total sales.

The OshKosh range of childrenswear is now the most popular childrenswear label in the USA and around the world. In 1995, OshKosh celebrated their 100-year anniversary.
In 1998 OshKosh was named amongst the world's twenty most recognised brands known for their quality.  OshKosh B'Gosh was placed seventh amongst brands such as Kodak, Mercedes Benz, Levis, Disney World, Waterford Crystal, and Fisher Price Toys which made them number one amongst childrenswear labels.

Today in the USA, OshKosh Inc. is a public company consisting of over 4,000 staff, 4 major factories, 2 national distribution centres, and over 120 specialty stores. OshKosh has licensees or distributors in over 80 countries.

In Australia and New Zealand, the distributor is Skye Group (Pty) Ltd. OshKosh Australia has a number of company owned stores, Kids Central concepts and concessions within David Jones.
